Easy Epsom Salts Crystals
Easy Epsom Salts Crystals Intro

Another easy project, but the final crystal shape is quite different.

Materials
• 1/4 cup epsom salts bath crystals (You can buy epsom salts in most drug stores.)
• 1/2 cup water
• Shallow container or dish
• Sponge (optional)

Instructions
1. Boil water. Remove from heat and add epsom salts. Stir until the epsom salts are dissolved.
2. Pour the mixture into a shallow container or dish, just enough to cover the bottom. You can pour the mixture over a sponge if you want. It will make the crystals a bit easier to see because they will form around the sponge.
3. Put the container in a safe, sunny place. As the water evaporates, crystals will start to form.

A Step Further
Look at the shape of the epsom salts crystals before you add them to the water. After your crystals grow, look at the shape again. How does their shape differ from the shape of salt crystals?
